Hey everyone,

I'm just letting you all know that I put up a lot of things for sale on my selling LJ paper_rockets. There is a manga/magazine/book/misc. section where I added in a lot of stuff I want to get rid of. There are a lot of magazines that are now out of print and harder to find, so if you're a collector of...

Animerica
Animerica Extra
Shojo Beat
Shonen Jump
PSM: 100% Independent Playstation Magazine
or various manga

Check out the entry! Click here for entry!!!

I may start putting some toys up for sale, but I will still ponder the thought. Anyway, come get them before they are gone! If they don't sell, they'll be going up on Ebay or in the recycling. I would rather they go to a good home than end up in the trash, y'know? I took really good care of them and everything is in near mint condition, so hopefully that entices anyone that is a collector.

The music's in her head and below her feet.

This is the piece I managed to pull together in roughly 5-6 hours for the silent auction at my old high school this Saturday to fund raise money for my sister so she can go on the California band trip. Since it's a band/dessert type of event I definitely kept in mind the music theme with this piece.

I took pictures as I was working on it and will probably post the progress shots from initial sketch down to the framed finished piece once I edit them down to size later this afternoon (they'll be with this post). As for a starting bid price, I would like to set it around $40-$50. I know it sounds high but the frame I bought was not a cheap $10.00 frame. The original price was about $25-$30 but I got a little discount because it was on sale, but taking into consideration the materials used and my time I'd say the starting price justifies it. I hope someone will bid on it... It could make a good Christmas gift. ;)

Info on event
What: Silent auction, desserts and jazz band (support the band to go to CA)
Where: Mt. Baker High School auditorium
When: Saturday, December 6, 2008
Time: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

From 7:00-8:00 will be a time for desserts/browsing silent auction items and bidding. From 8:00-9:00 the jazz band will play. From 9:00-10:00 more desserts and silent auction stuff

I didn't get around to another Halloween themed painting this week (mainly because of all the shit I've had to deal with), so I'll just post the one I did earlier this month. Tonight I made dough for molasses cookies and put them in the fridge to chill overnight. I forgot you have to chill the dough, so I cannot bake them tonight. :\ I was hoping to have the cookies this evening like I used to as a kid when my great grandma used to make them, but oh well. Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween!

I did two paintings this week... Well, I did three actually but one of them is for a buddy of mine and it was just a picture of Link from Legend of Zelda. I'm unsure about the first one and the way it turned out. I may end up redoing it since I'm really not that satisfied with it. We'll see though... Depends on how much time I have to start a new one.

This is a late birthday present for my mom that I did last night. I'm going to matte and frame it this weekend and give it to her. I was really inspired by some of my favorite contemporary artists like Stella Im Hultberg and Audrey Kawasaki and I thought I would try to emulate some of their techniques and style. I have mixed feelings about this piece since I guess it was kind of experimental. I took pictures of my process of making this piece so I think I will post them later tonight.

Tonight I'll be watching the vice presidential debates not just for information, but also for entertainment. I'm sure everyone has been hearing the buzz about Sarah Palin ever since McCain picked her as her running mate. I'm not huge into politics, but I do feel that this is a very important election and I really should register to vote ASAP. There is no way in Hell I would want this bimbo to be our next vice president let alone President if McCain dies in office. She couldn't even answer the damn question! I watched snippets of the interview and on several occasions she didn't even answer the question properly or basically ran a tangent that had nothing to do with the question. What a freaking moron! Puh-lease! Don't vote for McCain, I'm begging you all!!!

I did a painting today. I'm setting a goal for myself to do at least one painting a week and I think it's something I can abide by unless I end up running out of ideas.

I barely got a wink of sleep last night due to my brother's snoring again. I think it was around 4 a.m. by the time I finally fell asleep for a good couple of hours, but I had to once again listen to music to drown out the snoring. I'm gonna pick up some ear plugs this weekend so that way next week I won't have to deal with this again... or I will buy my brother some nasal strips.

Work is so-so. I'm nearly done with modeling and have already started unwrapping some stuff for texturing. I hope to get a huge chunk of texturing done next week and possibly finish this stupid thing the following week. We shall see. As soon as I'm done with this thing, I'm quitting. I don't care if I have to get a temporary job working at a grocery store or as a game tester until I find something more permanent, I just need something to hold me over.

Hmmm... what else? Oh, heh, Washington Mutual is going bye bye, or rather it is. I think my mom had a checking account there or deposited the money she won earlier this year there. I hope it's safe. They say that the money will be safe, but I'm kind of worried about it. The economy is going downhill super fast and it makes me wonder if we will end up in another depression. How crappy that would be because I remember stories from my great grandma and how she lived through the Great Depression. It was not a good time at all for all Americans. And what is this talk I hear about bailing out Wall Street with $700,000,000,000 (which mind you will basically come out of taxpayers' pockets)? Fuck that! Those rich bastards don't need saving, it's the poor and middle class that need to be saved! Here is the problem with this country, we just throw money that we don't have at a problem and hope to God it'll fix itself. I swear, there are idiots in DC that are running this country.

P.S.
Why is Earth, Wind & Fire's "September" freaking stuck in my head?! Aghhhh!!!

R.I.P. Cassidy
(she is the light brown bunny)

This morning I went to the bathroom but had to go upstairs because my mom was in the one downstairs. Usually when I come down from upstairs and I'm in the laundry room, I look outside and see the bunnies in their cages. I noticed Roger was shaking or sniffing a lot lot next to Cassidy but Cassidy wasn't moving. I just watched for about a minute and decided to investigate. I slipped on the nearest shoes I could find and made my way outside to check, and the moment I got closer I knew she was gone.

I tried to hold back my tears as I went back inside to tell my sister about her rabbit as she was getting ready for school this morning. She broke into tears mainly because she has no idea why Cassidy has died. Neither do I. Apparently she was doing fine last night and she was even eating out of my sister's hand. I guess it was her time since she was kind of old for a rabbit. But man, two rabbits in one year and both died from old age! So far we've had to deal with three deaths this year alone, which is like a total of 9 deaths in three years. I feel so numb.

Happy Birthday to my cousin Roger, my buddy Tim timmons and to me. Woooh, we're all another year older and somewhat wiser. haha I hope everyone has a good day.

Yesterday we had a birthday party for me and my grandma Reynolds whose birthday is on the 15th. We usually celebrate ours together since they're in September. It's been a long time since I've celebrated my birthday with Roger... since maybe when we were pretty young. Well, he is busy all the time with work and living far away so I rarely see him anymore. But yeah, yesterday was pretty cool. It was nice to be with family and have lots of yummy foods, which I enjoyed.

I also got some nice gifts. I got Heroes Season 2 DVDs, The Nightmare Before Christmas special edition (I already had one from a looooong time ago, but my sis wanted me to get the newest version for me haha), Disgaea 3, some Lindt truffles, money and I got an earring and necklace set from my aunt. Unfortunately, I don't have my ears pierced and I probably never will. Jewelry is kind of a bad gift for me because I rarely ever wear any and I obviously can't wear earrings. Oh well, she didn't know and that's ok. It's kind of cool looking so maybe I can wear the necklace from time to time.

This morning my parents surprised me with Spore! It came out today so it surprised me that they went to the store early this morning and got it for me. I'm pretty excited to play it. :D Anyway, today I think I'm going to just relax, maybe do some chores, go to town to get some vacation pix printed and that's probably it. Tomorrow morning I will go back to Bellevue... boo! Oh well, such is life.

Ok, I'm leaving this evening to go on my vacation. Penpals, if you are waiting on a letter from me, please don't feel that I've forgotten about you or anything. I will reply to all your letters when I get back next week. Sorry for the inconvenience and whatnot, but I hope you understand since I will be out of state.

In other news... I woke up early this morning due to thunder. I ate some breakfast and started watching some TV, but then I got pretty sleepy and fell asleep on the couch. I had such a vivid dream though. I was in the front yard petting Hamilton and then suddenly on my right side Midnight came up to me and sat down. I started petting her cheek and said, "Hi, baby," like I always used to say to her and how I always used to pet her. It felt so real that she was there. I then woke up from my dream. When I told my sister the dream I started crying hardcore. It's been two weeks since her death today, and it's weird. I usually don't have dreams involving people who have passed away. I've only had maybe two or three in my entire life when I had someone who passed away in my dreams. I think the last one I had was my grandma Sharon, and I had that one maybe a few months ago and that was the first one I had of her since her death three years ago. But anyway, I just feel so sad because I saw Midnight, but in a way I think she just wanted to check up on me in my dream and let me know that she was ok. I sure do miss that dog. :(

R.I.P.
Midnight Quimby
Winter 1992- August 3, 2008 (3:25 p.m.)

My dog Midnight just passed away. Very early this morning she had a violet seizure and throughout the day she had mini siezures. I spent the morning by her side as much as possible. It was just her time. I'm glad she only suffered for about 12 hours rather than days or weeks. Rest peacefully mama Midnight. We buried her next to her kids, Brownie and Star. I'm gonna miss you so much. I'm so glad I had you for almost 16 years of my life. I love you and everyone will miss you. ♥

So yesterday I spent about four hours setting up new interior lights and render settings for the house walk-through movie, which was fine. Yesterday afternoon I started to render a set of 1000 frames which would take about 48 hours to render. Ok, that is a long time to render 1000 frames but obviously it's because it's higher quality and it takes longer. Well, everything seemed to be going ok today. I have been constantly checking on my progress and made it over halfway by 3:00 p.m.

Since I can't really use my computer while I'm rendering, I decided to clean my room today. I put up the rest of my bookshelf, organized my books, dusted and vacuumed. As I was vacuuming with the nozzle to clean up the cobwebs the power died in the entire apartment. I freaking blew a fuse and lost all the rendering I had done, over 500 frames and 23 hours worth of rendering. It's all gone. And what's worse, apparently all the lighting changes didn't save (I usually save just before I start rendering) so now I'm having to redo everything. I don't know why this bad luck had to happen to me today out of all days. Why couldn't it happen some other time?! I'm severely frustrated at the moment, but there's not much I can do about it except accept the fact that I have to redo a lot of work. *sigh*

P.S.
Everything is funnier when mascots are involved...

For some reason my latest obsession is cell phones and their design. I think it's because I want to do more with my cell phone but can't since I'm on a family plan and my phone has limitations. Also, American phones are so far behind in comparison to other countries, especially Japan. Just now we are starting to see phones that use 3G here in the states whereas Japan has been using it for quite awhile now, and many people use their phones not just for talking and texting but also for reading, watching movies/shows or surfing the web, paying bills, etc. Sure, phones here are just starting to incorporate such technology but I don't understand why the U.S. is so far behind technology-wise in some departments. *sigh* Anyway, like I said, my latest obsession is with cell phone design. For some reason I like blocky, flat phones or phones that are very square/rectangle in shape. I really don't like round or curvaceous phones.

Photobucket

When a phone becomes more like a fashion statement than anything elseCollapse )

Anyway, I'm thinking if and when my family contract ends I might end up getting my own plan so I can pay for my phone myself instead of my parents paying... Unless of course it's just cheaper to be on the family plan then I can just stay on that. I kind of want a new phone but too bad the U.S. phone market sucks. I think a lot of the phones are just plain ugly and don't have features/designs that I like (please stop using freaking rubber buttons on phones! They are annoying!) So yeah, I am recently obsessed looking at phones online and checking out plans for the future. lol I guess this keeps me busy with something other than work... which I have become so lazy about recently. I don't want to do anything in regards to work since last week. :\

I finally got the 2D gallery to work on my website! However, there isn't a scroll bar and when I view it, some of the images are cut at the bottom. I'm not sure how to fix that problem, but if anyone looks at the HTML and can figure out why and can fix it, that'd be awesome if you could help me. :D I'm really glad though I have this done. I've been stressing out about my whole website for a week. Now all I need to do is do some minor tweaks to the 2D page. Here's my finished website: CQUIMBY * ART.

In other news, there is this awesome event that is happening on July 24th in Seattle and it's being hosted by Big Fish Games and Women in Games International Community Mixer. It's basically where people from the casual gaming companies come and you basically make contacts. It sounds pretty sweet so I'm going to try to go to it and see if I can line up any jobs. I really don't want to go alone though. I often feel pretty awkward if I go alone to social gatherings such as this since I'm not really a good socializing person. My people skills = bad. lol So if anyone wants to go, drop me a line! Here's some more information about it: WIGI Event. I better RSVP soon!

Oy, well, it's now 12:30 a.m. and I haven't even showered yet. I shall get going and hit the hay because tomorrow is going to be a long day of working on stupid stuff for IBS. Booooooh!
